Beginning of Summer

Our summer has started somewhat gently this year. Whereas in previous years, many of our community members would stay at the ashram for the whole summer, working three out of every four days, this year there is not a single one of our community members that can do this for the whole summer. Everyone is able to commit to the ashram schedule for different amounts of time.

However, with proper anticipation and planning for the days when we have a large labor force, we have already started to get a lot done! Firstly and most excitingly, Jnanda plans to permanently move to HYA in July. Saucha and Devaaya are working hard in there most days to check the last few things off the list that need to be done, in order to get our certificate of occupancy.

On Sunday, we hand-leveled an area to which we relocated our shed. It used to be a storage shed for all kinds of things; now it will be for wood and some heavy tools. It was a fun community experience carrying it all together to the top of the hill. Zavi seemed to want to make it his new home when we were done.

We have also begun construction on a chicken coop. We hope to have a small flock of chickens by the end of the year. Benji has been consistently researching it, and is very enthusiastic.

The strength and selflessness of our community continues to grow and inspire us. We have a lot to do, over many years, to accomplish all of our goals, which can be found on our website. Even the to-do list for a year can feel daunting if one falls prey to the myth of separation. It is the ego that steals an L from the All-One, thus creating the alone. The stolen L is Divine Love and its many facets. The members of our community have been consistently coming through this year, so that it is not hard to get 10 people together to accomplish a task for one or even two days if necessary for a weekend, despite the fact that many of them live in Charlottesville, a 2.5 hour drive away. We are very grateful for the selflessness that this shows, and for the increasing strength and support of our core group.
