Take Action

At the heart of our community is a commitment made by each individual to cultivate more Divine Love in themselves and to be of service to others. We are looking for volunteers who are serious about finding personal and spiritual growth at our ashram. As a new member of HYA, we will guide you through a structured 10-day program to learn our ashram’s system of spirituality. We will also offer a 1-on-1 mentorship relationship with a more advanced spiritual student. Our system of spirituality is primarily built around Eastern modalities; specifically the Four Main Yogas of Karma Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Raja Yoga, and Jnana Yoga. We expect new members of HYA to attend daily group spiritual practices through the 10-day program, and eventually maintain a personal daily practice while at the ashram. We are a substance-free and family-friendly community. If interested, please contact us using the link below. Thank you and Namaste’!

What to Expect When Visitng

As a karma yoga ashram we balance work with spiritual teachings and community building. We abide by a three day on, one day off work week. For the first 10 days new volunteers do spiritual practices in the mornings and evenings with one of our mentors. Our evenings and off days are filled with mediation, community bonding, and personal leisure. We do many group activities such as hikes in the Blue Ridge Mountains, sports games, talent shows, kirtans, and sharing circles. We encourage you to bring your creative ideas to the ashram!

“What we are is permanent; what we have is temporal. If we focus on the brief then pain wins out and life is suffering. Yet when we focus on the real, the illusion of suffering is seen and no longer hinders love’s path. Thus we suffer not while suffering life’s fate.”
