April Update
UPDATE - 4/26/25
Namaste everyone! Summer is right around the corner at HYA. We are enjoying the summer weather and helping each other more than ever on various Karma Yoga work projects. We have all chipped in a little on Saucha and Gudu's house, and on Jnanda's house, which is very very close to its certificate of occupancy. This weekend, Nishka and Sama came down to help paint the interior walls of the house yellow. Other weekends have included everyone from the 'Lighthouse' in Charlottesville, where many of our community members live.
We made a big purchase this month: a mini excavator! It will be able to help us with lots of earthworks projects, and is an important tool that we have been needing for a while. This weekend, we were able to plant 25 persimmons in our silvopasture. These persimmons were a few years old, and therefore had much more advanced root structures than the yearlings that we are used to planting. The excavator came in handy a lot on that job. We are very grateful for all of the donations that made the purchase of this equipment possible!
As summer approaches, we are excitedly ramping up for our summer volunteer program. If you would like to volunteer, and see what life on an ashram is like, please reach out through our website: hyalife.org. We hope to see you there!
